Numerous local businesses, mom-and-pop small business like a glass contractor and a piano company just to name two that I personally know of, were closed down because the Trump organization refused to pay them. To simply not pay them, or offer 10 cents on the dollar for contracted work that was agreed upon and was already approved as quality work they were satisfied with. One of his business methods was to stiff contractors. Why was he largely hated and disrespected by the locals back then? I couldn't understand it. There were no loyal followers and no angry opponents, he was just who he was, and there were no "sides," there was no reason for anyone to blindly support him or blindly oppose him. ![]() There was a long time in history when Donald Trump was a famous businessman, when there were no political overtones to his doings.
